Career vs. Calling?

folder_openBlog

Is it possible for you to “find your calling” or are you relegated to just a job that you go to every single day and day dream about what you are really supposed to be doing? Why do some appear to be living their dream while others claim to be living a “nightmare.” I personally couldn’t imagine waking up every day and going to work that was meaningless that I was compensated poorly for. If you believe that you were hardwired with talents then why in the world would you not believe that you could become compensated for those talents.
When we step back and look at how people spend their time it looks like this. The average person will spend:
23 years of their life sleeping
9 1/2 years in their car
6 years eating
5-15 years in spiritual activity
15-25 years in education or training
35-50 years of our life WORKING
The object is to see our work as the distribution channel for your talents where you wake up and instead of trading your time and energy for money, you trade your talents and passions for purpose and they compensate you for bringing your skills to the party. There’s a reason entertainers and artists are some of the highest paid people in the world and when they win awards all say the exact same thing:
I’m so LUCKY to get to wake up every day and do what I love for a living. So, how do you know if this is a CAREER or CALLING for you?
This is just a career if:
1. You are bored
2. You spend days daydreaming about a bigger future
3. You are barely getting by financially
4. You have a gnawing  at your conscience
5. You are constantly frustrated
6. You are grieving about your lost potential
If you are in your calling it would look like this:
1. You are excited to go back to work on Monday
2. You stay up at night thinking about your next move
3. The market is rewarding you in the form of love, money, recognition, and referrals
4. You have energy to go strong even when don’t feel like it
5. You are constantly looking for more arenas for your talents
Why don’t you believe it’s possible for YOU to find your calling?
You believe:
1. There is an imaginary line between you and success
2. Your past programming telling you that you are not worthy and others are
3. You have an inability to sell your own self
4. You are in an environment is negative around you
5. You have a limited skill set and unwillingness to improve it
6. You don’t have a bigger future
Why don’t you believe it’s possible for YOU (Selling yourself to yourself)
The Dream is possible for you
Know this. The dream is possible for you. You must wake up every day and sell yourself to yourself. You must get around bigger players. You must expand in new directions and never go back to your original dimensions. Wake up every day and affirm these things to yourself:
I am a person of interest.
People are counting and relying on me.
Success is my duty, obligation, and responsibility.
I will live a life that matters.
My work will be the distribution channel for my talents.
